Embracing New Rhythms
Hello Friends,
May is here and summer is right around the corner. For many, this season rings with hope and possibility, the promise of warmth and play time beckoning us to America’s recess–summer break.
Whether you have kids in school or not, summer often brings the possibility of new routines and rhythms. If such a transition prompts stress rather than anticipation, we hope you’ll reach out so we can support you as spring flows into summer.
Firm Foundation Family Services in the field
Our clinicians have been busy this spring providing community support as well as daily therapy services in our Ashburn office. Coming up on May 20, Chia-Hua will be hosting a Present & Future Art Workshop with our host and partner SimplyBe Coffee in Leesburg from 11:30am-1pm. Half the proceeds go to SimplyBe to support their mission of helping individuals with special needs. Sign up today to secure your spot.
If you would like to explore partnering with a 3FS clinician to speak, facilitate, or provide support at your own community event, please fill out our contact form. We’re happy to discuss how to help you make your event a success.

Gospel Shaped Marriage: Grace for Sinners to Love Like Saints
by Chad & Emily Van Dixhorn
“Our Savior did not give himself to those who already gave themselves. He did not wait for us to do our duties. He is the Savior for those who fail in their duties while clamoring about their rights.” (p. 45)
Husband and wife Chad and Emily take us on a brief but critical tour through a variety of ways the gospel shapes the way we are to live out our lives as married couples in God’s kingdom. With even-handed insights that both convict and encourage, the authors deal directly and gently with the call to godliness in marriage.

INSIGHT
Family relationships, due to their proximity and intimacy, run the risk of making us reliant on others for our own well being. God designed relationships to be good, but in a fallen world we can come to place our trust and hope in our loved ones rather than in Christ, the only One designed to truly fill us. If your marriage or a close relationship has you feeling distressed, consider whether the Lord is prompting you to bring your needs directly to Him, “for in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily, and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.” (Col 2: 9-10)
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and bulit up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7
As we progress through the first year since opening our office doors, we here at 3FS face the continual challenge of reaching those most in need of the services we offer. We know the power of connection and humbly seek your feedback.
If we have been an encouragement to you in any way–through our website or blog, on social media, at an event, in a workshop, or through our in-office therapy services, we hope you’ll consider letting us know. We cherish your engagement and continue to seek ways to support individuals and families toward health. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Walking with you,
Carrington
