A Season of New Beginnings
Hello friends,
Happy new year! As we trade the festivity of the holiday season for the wintry chill of early January, at 3FS we are eagerly planning new ways to support our clients and community in 2026.
Announcing our first Firm Foundation Family Services-sponsored community event!
In Loudoun County Public Schools, January 5 saw the implementation of policy 8655, which restricts the use of personal devices for the duration of the school day from “bell to bell.”
On February 3 at 6:30pm, 3FS will host a panel to discuss the new policy at Leesburg’s Rust Library. We hope you’ll join us at this community event to help parents promote their children’s health and academic success
FEATURED BLOG
The Gift of Family
In a world of chaos and strife, God saw goodness in the foundation of family and chose to enter the world not in the fullness of His inherent glory, but packaged in the gift of a baby boy, sent to a young mom and dad just starting their lives together.
BOOK RECOMMENDATION
The Marriage Builder: Creating True Oneness to Transform Your Marriage
by Larry Crab
Crab provides a rich description of the purpose of marriage and how husbands and wives can pursue true oneness with one another. He eloquently argues that when spouses rely on the Lord to meet their deepest needs, they are better equipped to selflessly serve their spouse in marriage.
“People everywhere long for intimate relationships. We all need to be close to someone. Make no apology for your strong desire to be intimate with someone; it is neither sinful nor selfish. . . . Neglecting your longing for relationship by claiming to be above it is as foolish as pretending you can live without food. Our longing for relationship is real, and it is there by God’s design.” (pp. 27-28)

KIDS & TECHNOLOGY
The Parent Coaching Institute (PCI) trains and certifies parent coaches to support and equip moms and dads to grow strong relationships with their kids. Check out the resources page on their website for book reviews and articles from leading digital literacy advocate, Gloria DeGaetano, about how to support healthy child development in an increasingly digital age.
RESOURCE
Mama Bear Apologetics: It started with a book, Mama Bear Apologetics, and has grown into a website, a podcast, an upcoming video series, and community. Check out the website for all the offerings geared toward mothers eager to raise their kids equipped to boldly and gracefully walk with Christ in an unbelieving world.
INSIGHT
We often jump to pursuing the end results we desire in hopes we can conjure them into being, but Scripture offers a different view. Jesus said to seek God’s kingdom and righteousness first, and God will see fit to meet our needs and bear fruit in keeping with righteousness. Don’t clean up your language around your kids so you look good; focus on pursuing Christ such that His goodness flows through your words. God is faithful to fulfill His promise of sanctification when we obey His instruction to rely on His strength rather than our own.
"I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears." Psalm 34:4-5
Help Us Grow Our Community
If our work has encouraged you in any way, we’d love your support in helping others discover Firm Foundation Family Services. No need to share personal details or mention counseling specifics — simply a few words about your experience with our team or our impact in the community would mean so much.
As the new year gets underway, I hope your hope is renewed in the possibilities of new discovery, new growth, and new connections in the months to come. We continue to welcome new clients at 3FS, and welcome the chance to serve you this year.
Walking with you,
Carrington
